Artist of the month – Mirror Gorillas

July 23rd 2015 is the day I first wrote about Mirror Gorillas. A band that would go on to become one of my favourite bands.

One of the reasons they are so special to me is that whenever I think back to the birth of Indie Kiddie, they are the first band that spring to mind, because they were the first non-comericialised band I wrote about. They have also supported me and the blog through its existence and for that I am eternally grateful.

Which is why there was no one else I could possibly put as Indie Kiddie’s first ‘Artist of the month’ other than Harry, Tim, Sam and Jamie. Mirror Gorillas are the most exciting band around, and you’ll be missing out if you don’t join their journey to success. The first song of theirs I heard was called ‘Sunny In Philadelphia’ and even after only being 23 seconds in I could immediately tell I would become infatuated with their music, which is exactly what happened.

Flash forward 8 months and they have come so incredibly far, and are continuing to do so. With the addition of Harry and Tim’s side project ‘Holiday Home’, they have gone on to release new (incredible) song ‘Diana, A Life In Fashion’, which hand-on-heart is one of my all-time favourite songs, and have performed alongside Trash and Plaza on their recent tour.

With the release of their EP in the not-so-distant future, it’s safe to say that Mirror Gorillas is going to be a name that you will hear more and more over the oncoming months, and if you know of/are going to listen to them as a result of this article, you’ll understand why. With the number of similar bands going around at the moment, it’s refreshing to hear something totally different, and Mirror Gorillas will definitely add that excitement and originality to your life.
